The day after the election, Washington DC looks sobered and disappointed.
Here in this square, where yesterday a happy election party was celebrated, there is disillusionment.
We drove through Washington DC.
The streets are empty, as if dead.
And all of the people we've talked to, yes, they are scared of how the rest of the counting process will go and especially what Donald Trump will do next here in the White House.
I am concerned that the Republicans will try to stop them from counting all the votes and they will only try to steal the election.
I try again and again to exonerate our President in case of doubt and to give him the space to do the right thing. And he keeps disappointing me.
As a citizen of the United States, I want Donald Trump to respect democracy. But my personal belief is that we will have a long struggle ahead of us, and it will require people on the streets to demand that democracy be respected.
It is a very painful realization that many people have voted for a man who is a pathological liar, who has destroyed our institutions, who has destroyed the concept of facts and truth. He's a racist. He's a misogynist. He's an incredibly harmful person. And it's very hard to see that many of our people in our country voted for him again,
Other civil rights groups have announced protests for the course of the day.
How big they turn out depends on how the race for the states continues and when the count is complete.
