- The Lockdown light causes uncertainty among many winter sports enthusiasts.

Will the domestic ski areas be able to open on time?

Is it worth buying a season ticket?

The Alpen Plus partners have now reacted: They have extended the pre-sale phase, during which season ski passes are available at reduced prices.

It is now valid until December 4th.

"We wanted to give our customers a little more security in Corona times," says Antonia Asenstorfer, spokeswoman for the four Alpen-Plus areas Spitzingsee-Tegernsee, Sudelfeld, Wallberg and Brauneck in Lenggries.

Asenstorfer explains, the repayment promise has already reduced the risk for buyers of season ski passes.

The promise says: If all ski areas have to close for a full month because of the pandemic, the customer will receive a proportion of the money back.

If the worst case occurs and the railways cannot go into operation at all this winter, the buyer will be reimbursed the full amount - apart from a processing fee - Asenstorfer clarifies.

Nevertheless, the spokeswoman admits that customers have been observed to be waiting.

Hence the further concession with the extension of the advance booking.

Normally the phase would only have lasted until mid-November.

Ski areas hope to start in December

Incidentally, the Alpen Plus partners are currently - despite all the uncertainties - “preparing for a perfectly normal winter”, says the press spokeswoman.

"We hope that the measures will now take effect and that we can get started in December." From next week, the ski areas in the district should theoretically also start using artificial snow.

Asenstorfer assures us that we will get started as soon as the temperatures play along.

You have already heard rumors that the ski areas will not be making full use of the possibilities of snowmaking this Corona winter in order to save money.

This, the spokeswoman emphasizes, is not the case.

Railway operators fear that the slope-going trend will intensify

The railway operators in the district are not only concerned about the virus itself, but also its effects on people's leisure activities.

The Alpen-Plus partners fear that the touring trend in the ski areas could intensify this winter.

Similar to the situation in spring, when cycling had picked up due to the Corona restrictions.

“That is a problem because our ski areas are not that huge,” explains Asenstorfer, referring to the so-called piste walkers.

It is now hoped that the snow conditions this year will allow ski tourers to use the alternative routes off the slopes.

Otherwise it could get tight.
