Maintenance workshops and technical teams in the Hama branch of the General Organization of Syrian Railways and the General Company for the Construction of Railways have rehabilitated the railways damaged by terrorism and put them into service again.

Engineer Saleh Al-Salman, Director of the Hama Railway Branch, said in statements to SANA's correspondent that most of the railways located within the Hama branch have been subjected during the past years to sabotage, tampering, and looting of their equipment and supplies by terrorists, indicating that heavy damage and losses were inflicted on the upper and lower sections of the lines and their peripherals of residential and service buildings. And stations, communications means and cables, and the rest of the electrical equipment and towers, along the entire network.

He explained that after the restoration of security and stability to the area between Sunisil in the northwestern countryside of Homs to the countryside of Aleppo Governorate during the past year, all the sites of the line extension were inspected in coordination with the competent authorities to remove explosive devices on the route of the line as a step to estimate the size of damage and assess the technical status of the railways to be To start implementing maintenance work for the most important and vital lines and stations as a first stage.

Al-Salman pointed out that several projects have been completed recently to rehabilitate the damaged railways and their annexes, including a 440-meter-long strategic bridge in the same war, in addition to the maintenance of two other bridges, the first located between Hama and Qamhana stations, and the second between Hamdaniya and Sinjar stations by replacing their tiles by the Corporation's workshops and the Public Company for Railroad Construction.

He explained that the works also included the isolation, wiring and equipping of 53 large and small bridges and 77 ferries, in addition to preparing 20 surface guarded paths that form intersections with land roads in order to preserve public safety and in parallel with that, a contract was concluded with the Military Housing Corporation for the supply of many prefabricated rooms necessary to serve those in charge of Train stations and surface corridors, announcing that the General Organization for Railways is preparing a plan in parallel with the rehabilitation of network lines, facilities and equipment to restore the stations buildings that were completely damaged to be ready to receive passengers again, with the necessary electrical networks to ensure permanent operation of the track switches that are currently being manually rotated.

In turn, Eng. Habib Suleiman, head of the fixed installations department at the Hama branch of railways, explained that the 500-meter distance of network beams and rails was also manually replaced as a result of losing most of the maintenance equipment and tools and cutting the network connection, which will contribute to accelerating the rotation of the economic wheel in Syria.

In lighting along the Hama branch of railways and the importance it takes on the Syrian railway network and its vital role in shipping goods and materials, the head of the Technical Assistant Lines Division, Ahmed Hallaq, stated that the Hama Railway Branch extends from the Sennisel station north of Homs to the countryside of Aleppo with a longitudinal extension of the lines. 142 km in addition to the branches, which are Hama Mahrada with a length of 22 km and Hama Al Zara with a length of 3.5 km to feed the two stations with fuel, and the branch of Hama of the General Company for Iron and Steel Products with a length of 6 km to transport raw materials and billets to and from the factory, and the branch of the Mardes mill with a length of 5 km from Qumhana to Maardas to transport grains and flour A branch extending 2.5 km from Kafarbham to the silos to transport grain as well, and a 1.5 km long branch to serve the Sinjar silos, while on the Hama branch there are 7 stations, namely Harb Al-Nafsah, Kafarbhem, Hama, Qamhana, Al-Hamdaniya, Sinjar and Abu Dahour.
