The Culture and Media Forum, hosted by the Homs Culture Directorate, with the participation of intellectual, cultural, media, social and religious personalities, focused on ways to advance the media and intellectual discourse between the sender and the recipient, which leads to an increase in societal awareness of the risks that target us.

Participants in the forum stressed the necessity of communicating the citizen’s voice to decision-makers in a way that guarantees finding solutions to various issues and thus consolidating confidence among all.

Muammar Al-Nahar, the director of the forum in Syria, explained in an interview with SANA's correspondent that the aim of the forum, which is the second in Homs after Damascus, is to be the inclusive circle between intellectuals and media professionals, in a way that promotes the work of the two together, pointing to the response of many writers and poets to this initiative through their donation of two thousand books to the forum that will be distributed Within the framework of the public library, which will be the first in the Arab world, as it will be placed in post boxes in the streets of Homs, which any citizen can read and then return.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sharawi, a professor at the Faculty of Mass Communication at Damascus University, spoke about the importance of the media's role as a mediator between the public and decision-makers, and that analyzing the problem is the first way of treatment.

Dr. and researcher Ali Saqr Ahmed focused in the media and tourism axis on the mechanism of the relationship between the media and the cultural and tourism reality in Syria and the need to push it forward through a series of measures, including the establishment of courses to teach the Aramaic language as a way to read the archaeological inscriptions that our country possesses and to introduce the importance of archaeological sites in them, especially those forgotten ancient cities. .

For his part, Dr. Bashir Elias, President of Al-Wadi International Private University, affirmed that culture, information and education must be integrated in order to advance a youth capable of building and fortifying the homeland, while Georgios Abu Zakhim, Bishop of Homs and its affiliates, spoke to the Greek Orthodox who attended the forum about the danger of the cultural war that is no less than the war in the field. What calls for directing the compass in an optimal manner in line with our culture and awareness, especially that we are based on a great history and cultural legacy relying on the media and its message to convey faithfully and honestly this image so that the culture is integrated and aware of what we are doing.

The journalist Andre Deeb, director of the forum in Homs, explained that the forum will take a more effective role in the coming months, as it will include, in addition to the media workshops, various cultural events, including book fairs, plastic art, photography, literary and fictional competitions, under the supervision of specialized committees, as well as honoring a number of literary, cultural and media figures in the governorate.
