An informed source at the White House announced that Chief of Staff Mark Meadows had been infected with the Corona virus.
Reuters quoted the source as saying that the tests also confirmed that Nick Trainer, a senior aide to US President Donald Trump's campaign, was infected with the virus.
It was not immediately clear when and how Meadows, who appeared repeatedly in public events without wearing a muzzle, was injured.
And Meadows had made it clear in a statement to CNN last October that the US administration had abandoned attempts to slow the spread of the virus and would not be able to control the pandemic.
Meadows appeared at the campaign headquarters alongside Trump, his family and advisers at the White House on US election day.
The United States recorded a record number of Coronavirus infections, with the number of infections per day reaching about 128,000.
