The Chairman of the US House of Representatives Armed Forces Committee Adam Smith considered that the removal of US President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Mark Esper from his post is a destabilizing step and will encourage opponents.
Local media quoted Smith as saying in a statement today that "Trump's decision to dismiss Esper out of hatred is not only childish, but also reckless."
In turn, Democratic Senator Chris Murphy criticized Trump's decision, saying that the dismissal of Esper "creates a dangerously unstable environment for US national security in the transition period."
Trump had previously sacked Esper and appointed Christopher Miller, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, as acting secretary, two days after announcing he had lost the presidential election and Democratic candidate Joe Biden won.
