Croatia, Greece, Bulgaria: these countries stand for vacation in Germany.
But the Balkans are groaning heavily from the corona pandemic.
Where what applies to Covid-19, and who is struggling with what problems.
An overview.

Munich -
They have been popular
among
Germans'
travel destinations
for years:
Croatia
and
Greece
.
But the
Balkan Peninsula
is also being dominated by the
coronavirus pandemic
- both in terms of health policy and economically.
Greece
has
imposed
a drastic
Covid-19 lockdown
, Croatia is
struggling
with high
numbers of corona cases
.
How is the situation as of November 12th?
And which country chooses which measures?
An overview (selected countries):
Corona in Greece: In lockdown, citizens are only allowed outside the door by SMS
When the
7-day incidence
in
Greece
- figuratively speaking - approached the 100 mark in seven-mile boots, the government of
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis cracked down in
early November: Lockdown!
And not light, but with strict measures.
The
Ippen Digital Zentralredaktion
asked around.
"The authorities are much stricter than in Germany," say Greeks who live in
Munich
.
What do you mean by that?
In
Greece, there
is
a nationwide nightly
curfew
between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
due to
Corona
.
Citizens are only allowed outside the door during the day if they
ask
the authorities
for permission
via
SMS
.
The police
strictly
monitor compliance with the
Covid-19 rules
.
Exceptions are, according to the
picture,
for example, visits to the doctor, support for those in need and individual outdoor sports.
Anyone who violates the
Corona curfew
must pay a fine of 300 euros.
Since
employees
in
Greece
only earn several hundred euros on average, that is a lot.
Only
supermarkets, pharmacies
and essential shops are still open.
A
mask is required
in public spaces throughout the country
.
Corona in Croatia: The number of Covid 19 cases is at a consistently high level
Istria
and
Dalmatia
, the towns of Opatija or
Dubrovnik
, the islands of Pag or Korcula -
Croatia
is the destination of many tourists from Germany and Austria every year.
The
corona crisis
meet the tourism-dependent
Croatia
with most, loudly declared
tagesschau.de
Mario Holzner from the
Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies
.
Accordingly, there is a threat of a slump in the gross national product in the almost double-digit range.

There is no
lockdown
.
The number of daily
new corona infections
exceeded the
1000 mark for the first time around October 20.
Converted to around 4.3 million inhabitants, that's okay.
On November 11, the
7-day incidence was
399.2,
according to
n-tv.de
.
Corona in Montenegro: Blatant 7-day incidence on the Adriatic
Little
Montenegro
(620,000 inhabitants) is
an insider tip
for
holidays on the Adriatic
.
For example through the bay near
Kotor
, or for a party vacation in the beach town of
Budva
.
But the former Yugoslav country is
struggling
hard with
new corona infections
.
According to surveys by
n-tv.de
on November 11,
the
7-day incidence
of new infections was a
whopping 645.1.
Corona in Bulgaria: In times of Covid-19, doctors go out
Bulgaria
was one of the first countries to
opt
for new
restrictions
in the second wave of the
corona pandemic
.
These came into force at the end of October - and are initially valid for two weeks.
An extension is likely.
Corona restrictions in Bulgaria | |
Mask requirement | applies to public transport such as buses, trains and subway |
High schools (upper level) and universities | online virtual distance learning |
Sports events such as soccer games | only without a spectator |
Night clubs, bars and discos | Interiors must remain closed |
On Wednesday, November 11, the
7-day incidence
was a comparatively high 324.6.
And the country (around 7 million inhabitants) complains about another problem: Many doctors have emigrated to the West because of the better prospects, for example to Germany.
As
reported by
tagesschau.de
, there is a lack of
specialist staff
in the
intensive care units
.
