Seven dead and 11 injured occurred in a tenement building on Canton Road in Yau Ma Tei at night.
It is understood that most of the dead and injured were Nepalese, including boys and girls.
At the scene of the fire, the fire was fierce, and trapped men had to climb out of the window to ask for help. A large number of neighbourhoods and residents fled to a safe place to take shelter. The police and firefighters received multiple reports for help.
Sources at the scene stated that an injured person told the police that the incident was caused by a Nepalese restaurant. At that time, one of the injured's children had a birthday party. The building that caught fire was 4 storeys high and was a commercial and residential tenement building with a total of 6 units on one elevator. The fire was located at the Nepalese restaurant on the first floor.
According to the source, a total of 18 people were sent to hospital from the fire. Of them, 7 were certified dead after rescue. 4 men and 3 women were killed between 9 and 40 years old, including a 9-year-old boy.

Yau Tsim Mong District Councillor Ho Fu-wing was assisting residents at the scene of the fire. A neighborhood told him that he heard the explosion.
So far, the neighbourhood has not received help for temporary accommodation, but the District Council has contacted the Civil Affairs Commissioner and will make arrangements if the neighbourhood needs it.
