Vice President of the Russian Diplomats Association Andrei Baklanov confirmed that the international conference on the return of Syrian refugees, which was held in Damascus on the 11th and 12th of this month, provided an opportunity for a meeting between those who are really interested in the fate of the refugees and who are willing to work in order to provide them with real aid to ensure their return to their homeland.

In an interview with the SANA correspondent in Moscow, Baklanov criticized the boycott by Western governments that claim to be keen on the fate of refugees to the conference, saying that their refusal to attend proved their lack of interest in this issue and that their main goal is how to continue their aggressive actions against Syria.

Baklanov called for indifference to the positions of Western countries, which are dehumanizing, and to rely instead on the self and friendship that binds our peoples and the forces supporting the return of Syrian refugees to their homes.

In a similar interview, a political commentator in the weekly Post Scriptom analytical program on the Central Channel of Russian TV, Roman Pervezentsev, considered that the Western countries ’boycott of the international conference on refugees exposed the positions of these countries and the aggressive policies that they pursue in Iraq, Libya, Syria, and the entire Arab region.

Pervezintsev stressed that the practices and plotting of Western countries against Syria is what paved the way for the entry of international terrorist gangs into it, in order for Western and American coercive measures to come to increase the suffering of the Syrian people.

In turn, the senior scientific researcher at the Faculty of Orientalism at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, Andrei Chiboregin, emphasized that the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the West on Syria are primarily harmful to citizens and children because they prevent foreign commercial dealings and limit the entry of aid into Syria.

Chiboregin considered that holding the Damascus conference was necessary to stimulate the return of refugees to their homeland, and called on the international community to provide assistance to Syria to achieve this goal.

He added that the conference revealed that the West’s allegations regarding its (eagerness) to help the Syrians do not go beyond pure word of mouth, and that the hostile policy of Washington and Brussels towards Syria has never changed.
