The Council of the Russian Federation unanimously adopted today a resolution authorizing President Vladimir Putin to send Russian forces to the Nagorno-Karabakh region after reaching a ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The council’s decision, according to what Russia Today reported: Giving approval to President Putin to send a military unit of the Russian Armed Forces equipped with the necessary weapons and military equipment to Nagorny Karabakh as of November 10, 2020, as stipulated in the joint statement issued on October 9. The second is for the President of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation for the ceasefire.

On November 9, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a ceasefire agreement in Nagorny Karabakh, which stipulates that Armenian and Azerbaijani forces stop at their current locations and Russian peacekeepers will be deployed along the line of contact in Karabakh and the passage between the Armenian lands and Karabakh.
