Huang Jiaqing, director of the Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health,

said:

At present, the latest epidemic is "increasingly worrying". As of midnight today, 12 new confirmed cases have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 5,492.

Eight of them were imported cases.

As for local infections, there were 4 cases, 2 were related cases, and 2 were no source cases.

Huang said that there are more than 20 preliminary confirmed cases today, most of which are local infections, coming from many districts in Hong Kong, with different social levels.

If the above-mentioned initial confirmed cases are finally diagnosed, and there are many cases of unknown origin, it will be important data to prove that the chain of community transmission continues to increase, and the epidemic may rapidly "rebound".

He urged the public to avoid unnecessary going out, maintain social distance and hygiene.

High-risk groups should also actively use government testing services to identify patients as soon as possible; if they have symptoms, citizens should seek medical attention as soon as possible.

In addition, the recent increase in upper respiratory tract cases in institutions and schools has not stopped. Although kindergartens have stopped teaching face-to-face classes, there have been outbreaks in 133 elementary schools and 1 middle school since November 15. The situation is deteriorating. The authorities Sample bottles will be sent to schools where an outbreak has occurred.
