The delivery of the Latin Grammy takes place this Thursday in the city of Miami.

The ceremony is held despite the coronavirus pandemic and the increase in cases in the United States.

The 21st edition of the awards will be held without an audience present, there will not be a red carpet either.

However, we will have live performances and links with other artists globally.

Previous ceremony of the Latin Grammy

Most of the 53 award categories are presented at a pre-ceremony.

It will be broadcast on the Latin Grammy Facebook channel, starting at 3 pm, Miami time.

This ceremony will be hosted by actress and singer Jackie Cruz and will feature presentations by nominated artists such as Gina Chávez, Kurt, Naike Ponce and Daniel Santacruz.

Among the nominees who could receive a golden gramophone are several guests from our CNN Pop Zone podcast: Mariaca Semprún, the Venezuelan rock band Los Mesoneros, Fito Páez and Andrés Cepeda, among others.

Yalitza Aparicio's debut at the awards

The news that the Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio would make her debut at the Latin Grammy, as one of the hosts of the ceremony, caused a furor on social networks and in the media.

The actress will share the stage with her colleague Ana Breco and the singer Víctor Manuelle.

Mexican singer Carlos Rivera, who would also lead the ceremony, canceled his participation at the last minute after a member of his team tested positive for coronavirus.

J Balvin's night?

Colombian superstar J Balvin leads the nominations (13) at this ceremony.

This Thursday it was announced that the singer broke a Guinness record as the most nominated artist in a year at this ceremony.

The previous record was held by the Puerto Rican group Calle 13, which was nominated for ten awards in 2011.

J Balvin has double nomination in the following categories: album of the year, record of the year, best urban fusion / performance, best reggaeton performance and best urban music album.

And a nomination in the categories: best urban song and best short version music video.

The top Latin Grammy winners

Despite not holding the Guinness record, René Pérez (Resident) and Eduardo Cabra (Visitor), former members of Calle 13, are still the top Latin Grammy winners.

Each has 24 gold gramophones.

They are followed by Juanes with 23, his own group, Calle 13 with 22 and Juan Luis Guerra with 21 nominations.

Juanes is nominated in the 21st edition in three categories (song of the year, best pop vocal album, best pop song) and if he is the winner in all of them, he would become the top winner of the awards.

The ceremony will be broadcast this Thursday, November 19, at 8 pm Miami time, through Univision.
