There is still no approved corona vaccine, but one is preparing for day X. In Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen there will probably be two vaccination centers.

  • As soon as there is an approved vaccine against Covid-19, vaccination centers should start operating in all counties.

  • Two vaccination centers are planned in Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen.

  • The two clinics in Bad Tölz and Wolfratshausen are being discussed as locations.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

- Time is of the essence: by December 15, i.e. in less than a month, there must be at least one vaccination center in each district.

The relevant guidelines have been in place since last week, says District Administrator Josef Niedermaier on request.

"Since then, we have had extremely open-ended discussions with an extremely large number of people - from clinics to aid organizations and service providers - and ask who could do it."

Ultimately, it will probably come down to two locations in the district.

Niedermaier's wish would be for the vaccination centers to be docked to the clinics in Wolfratshausen and Bad Tölz and, if possible, set up in existing rooms.

"But of course the clinics have to see it that way too," says the district administrator.

A vaccination center for Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen will not be enough

However, rooms alone are not enough, some medical staff will be necessary.

“There are service providers who offer that.

We certainly cannot do it ourselves. ”Nobody could say whether the clinics are staffed enough.

“If the situation is like in summer, then maybe.” However, if the number of patients increases significantly due to Corona, that is no longer possible.

Because the task that the vaccination centers have to face is likely to be great.

Of course, nobody can say exactly how many citizens actually want to be vaccinated, says the district administrator.

But he does a model calculation with 30 percent of the district's population.

That would be around 40,000 people.

Everyone has to be vaccinated twice.

That makes 80,000 appointments.

Converted to ten months, that would be around 400 vaccinations per working day.

“It's extreme.

That is why we cannot get by with one center. "

From the moment a vaccine is approved, vaccination centers should go into operation

Each location should also have one or two mobile teams that can drive to the risk groups in old people's and nursing homes and facilities for the disabled.

Preparations are already under way for this too.

“This is a huge logistical challenge,” says Niedermaier.

The main question is how to prepare the respective clientele for the serial vaccination.

Since this is a “vaccination offer, no vaccination obligation”, as Niedermaier emphasizes, everyone can decide for themselves whether they want it or not.

If you can no longer do this for yourself due to dementia or another illness, for example, you need to obtain a declaration of consent.

It is currently being determined what these declarations must contain in order to be legally watertight.

The overall effort is quite large.

However, it is not the district that has to pay for this, but the Free State.

But why does everything have to happen so quickly when there is still no vaccine on the market?

"Of course, you don't know anything 100 percent, but the approval process is about to be completed," says District Office department head Wolfgang Krause.

The company is already producing at its own risk.

And even if no district knows how many doses of vaccine it will actually receive in the end, it is still important to be prepared.

“From the moment of approval, we have to be prepared and be able to go into operation with the vaccination center.” Is there already a sequence of who can be vaccinated and when?

“No,” says Krause.

Risk groups, but also medical staff, will probably be at the top of the list.

A determination is still pending.
