Relief for wheelchair users, older people but also young parents with prams: There is a new barrier-free transition at Moosburger Stadtplatz.

Moosburg

- Konrad Weinzierl, disability officer of the Freising district, described the barrier-free transition at Moosburg town square, which was officially opened on Friday morning, as an “incredibly positive sign for wheelchair users and older people”.

Between the two town halls, part of the cobblestones had to give way to flat stones, which should now make it easier for the disabled, elderly citizens and parents with prams to cross the street.

For the city of Moosburg, this measure is a “further step in our program to redesign the city to be handicapped accessible,” said Mayor Josef Dollinger.

His praise went to the building yard employees around manager Martin Holzner, who had done a “clean job”.

"The transition went well," said Dollinger happily.

Further measures are planned

Step by step, the Dreirosenstadt should become barrier-free.

After the crossings at Rentamtstrasse, at the town square and at the town hall, which were built this year, more are to follow in the coming year - including at Benefiziat-Weber-Steig.

New crossings at Weingraben (near Rosenhofweg and Fingergäßl) were actually planned for the coming year, but these have to be postponed: sewer rehabilitation work is planned there for 2022.

"It wouldn't make sense to make the transitions complex beforehand," said Dollinger.

Blocking on the town square lifted

Dollinger was able to gain something positive from the construction work that was carried out in the center of Moosburg in autumn and the road closures that went with it.

Looking at the pedestrian zone, which is often called for, he said: "It was not a bad experience to see how things go when the road is closed." In his opinion, there were "no major problems".

Drivers can also be happy: on Friday morning, all the closures on the town square were dismantled, so that there is now free travel again.
