North Rhine-Westphalia is hard hit by the corona virus.
The number of new corona infections continues to grow in individual regions, but more slowly.
But in the daycare centers the situation is getting worse.
In Germany, the federal state of
North Rhine-Westphalia
(NRW) is particularly affected by the coronavirus *.
Day care centers
- daycare centers - should stay open in NRW, actually.
The NRW Family Minister gave a "care guarantee".

Update from November 20, 5:38 p.m.:
The
higher
administrative court in Münster
has
overturned
the
quarantine
requirement
for foreigners
returning
from
risk areas
.
This was
regulated
in the Corona entry regulation of the state of
North Rhine-Westphalia
.
The court argues that the country fails to take into account the fact that travelers
returning
from a country with lower
numbers of infections
than where they live are at a
higher risk of infection
when they return home
.
Thus, the quarantine is currently not a suitable means of containing the
corona pandemic in Germany
, the court announced on Friday.
Update from November 20, 12:07 p.m
.: What Chancellor
Angela Merkel (CDU)
allegedly
wants to propose
at the next
Corona summit
of the federal and state governments, the
“one-child rule”
(minors should be in
partial lockdown
on meetings with only one Friend or girlfriend) is highly controversial.
NRW Prime Minister
Armin Laschet (CDU)
but apparently similar ideas: "A family can only meet with two other people from another household," said the candidate for the CDU party chairmanship * of the
Stuttgarter Zeitung
and the
Stuttgarter Nachrichten
.
That is his suggestion for the talks on
November 25th
.
Experience has shown that the principle works - and so restrictions on
gastronomy
or
culture
could be
lifted “in the medium term”, says Laschet.
Laschet did not
explain who children and young people were not allowed to meet with their families, but rather
alone
.
It sounds, however, as if his approach amounts to the one-child rule in practice.
Many children in North Rhine-Westphalia are
currently no longer
seeing their
Kita acquaintances
- because the facilities are increasingly closing due to the pandemic
(see first report from November 19)
.
North Rhine-Westphalia's Prime Minister Armin Laschet wants to become CDU chief on January 16.
In the interview he talks about his goals for the party, the role of Angela Merkel and the current Corona crisis management.

Coronavirus in NRW: daycare closings are increasing rapidly - the situation is coming to a head
Update from November 19, 4:44 p.m
.: Because of
Corona
,
blood donations are
falling
in NRW
.
But accident victims, cancer patients and corona patients are dependent on blood donations.
NRW Minister of Health Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) has called, together with doctors, not to be deterred from donating blood despite the Corona crisis.
Covid-19 is not transmitted through blood, said Thomas Zeiler from the DRK blood donation service in Düsseldorf on Thursday.
Donating blood is as safe for the donor as the transfusion is for the recipient.
“There is no risk,” said the medic.
Therefore, it does not make sense to test for Covid-19 when donating blood.
According to the information, less than five percent of the German population donate blood regularly.
Six percent would be good, said Laumann.

NRW: Daycare centers should remain open - but corona numbers are increasing
Despite rising
corona numbers
, the NRW Family
Minister
had given a care
guarantee
in October.
"Schools and day care will not close again nationwide in North Rhine-Westphalia," said Joachim Stamp, according to the
dpa
news agency
on October 29th.
In a letter dated November 6th, Stamp confirms this again:
“(...) That's why I gave children and families an education and care
guarantee
back in September.
There will be no nationwide closure of daycare centers and child day care services.
(...). "
For the schools, NRW has brought the 2020/21 Christmas holidays forward.
The schoolchildren start their vacation two days earlier.
One development is causing debate: The number of children infected with Corona in Germany * is increasing significantly compared to September.
