The Vatican has asked Instagram for help investigating the use of Pope Francis' verified account after
a strange like
appeared last week
on a provocative photo of a Brazilian model.
This is an image of Natalia Garibotto, who has 2.4 million followers, and although it is not clear when the like took place, it was still visible on November 13.
The Holy See has opened
an internal and external investigation
in which the matter is being studied in "close collaboration" with the social network.
For the moment, it excludes that the like has come from any of the members of a small group of people who manage the social networks of the Holy See.
“We will see how the internal inquiries unfold, in the Vatican, and external, on Instagram.
Everything indicates
an external hand,
but there are still no conclusions, ”Vatican sources tell La Vanguardia.
The COY Go company, which oversees Garibotto's networks, has publicized the episode on its account, boasting that the company "has received
the official blessing of the Pope
."
Also the same model has taken the opportunity to make a joke: "At least I
will go to heaven,
" he posted on his Twitter account.

Pope Francis is very popular on social media.
He has 18.8 million Twitter followers on his English profile alone, and he has another 18.5 million fans on the Spanish account.
He is followed by 7.4 million people on Instagram.
He does not directly manage
his accounts, but rather
a team
within the Vatican's communication department, although he does usually approve the tweets he publishes from his official accounts in several languages.
