He is believed to be responsible for the death of two seriously ill corona patients.

The man was arrested on Wednesday,
Essen police
announced in a press release.
The public prosecutor's office is now investigating
two cases of
manslaughter
against the 44-year-old doctor.

He is accused of
deliberately and illegally
giving
two seriously ill men
medication that "led to their
immediate death
," the police said.
Both patients were in the corona intensive care unit of the senior doctor and were in a very
critical state of health
before their death
.
The men were 47 and 50 years old and are said to have died on November
13 and 17, 2020
.
The suspected doctor was taken into custody one day after the second death.
He has now been brought
before
the public prosecutor and a
judge
who
ordered
pre-
trial detention
.
The Essen police

a
homicide squad
to investigate the two cases
.
