TER trips: which reduction cards to use in the regions?

2020-11-21T07:33:14.434Z

In some regional trains, the “Advantage” cards, offered since 2019 by the SNCF, are now unusable. The regions have therefore created their own reduction cards which offer very attractive prices. Overview.

Travelers may have noticed it on their last TER trips.

Since the last overhaul of the SNCF price range on May 9, 2019, national reduction cards (“Advantage” range) are no longer valid in all regions.

Thus, while the Family Advantage and Weekend Advantage cards can still be used in Brittany or the Grand Est, they cannot be used in New Aquitaine or Occitanie.

And where they are accepted, you must book a return trip including at least one weekend day or night on site to benefit from the reduction.

A real puzzle ...

To attract occasional travelers, the regions, managers of TER networks, have therefore recently created their own reduction cards.

Valid for one year and accessible to all, they are sold between 20 and 30 € and offer up to 70% reduction on the full price of TER tickets.

An advantage that can also benefit the inhabitants of Île-de-France who wish to go to a neighboring region, for example Burgundy from the Paris-Bercy station or the Center-Val de Loire from Paris-Austerlitz.

In some regions, accompanying persons benefit from the same promotion as the card holder and children travel for free.

Ideal for trips with family or friends.
