Pollard seeks relief from his release:

About four years after being released from a U.S. prison, where he was banned for 30 years after being accused of spying for Israel, American Jew Jonathan Pollard addresses President Trump and seeks to remove some of the restrictions imposed on him upon his release.

In an interview with News 12, Pollard said: "There is an important issue that needs to be brought to the public's attention. It is a matter of life and death, a humanitarian issue. It is a crisis my wife and I are going through. My wife had a mammogram and the results were positive. aggressive".

Pollard added: "I immediately contacted Prime Minister Netanyahu, through Ambassador Ron Drummer, and asked for help regarding my release conditions. I cannot treat my wife effectively because I do not have mobility. I ask the PM to intervene directly and ask President Trump to ease my release conditions. ".

About a year and a half ago, Netanyahu turned to President Trump and asked him to allow Pollard to immigrate to Israel and abolish the restrictive conditions that currently exist against him.

It was also learned in the matter that Netanyahu had already demanded this in a meeting with Trump six months earlier.

At the meeting between the two, he justified his request by saying that the removal of the restrictions on Pollard would allow Israel and the United States to end this chapter in their common past, and would be very happy to be received in Israel in preparation for the 70th anniversary of its independence.

Netanyahu's requests were not answered in the affirmative at the time, and the question is whether the change in the medical condition of Pollard's wife will cause the American president to reconsider the issue.

Pollard is an American Jew who worked in the United States and spied for Israel. His exposure at the time caused a crisis in relations between the two countries. Pollard was released from prison in November 2015, during the Barack Obama administration, after serving 30 years in prison but restricted for five years; Among them - the decision that he will live in New York, stay in a night curfew, carry an electronic handcuff to monitor his computer and cell phone, and not be interviewed by the media. Because even if Pollard is deported to Israel, some of the restrictions will continue to apply to him - something that Israel has agreed to.
