After a long time the communities of Aßling, Emmering and Frauenneuharting are increasing their dog tax again.

There is a reason for that.

Keeping fighting dogs is particularly expensive.

Aßling / Emmering / Frauenneuharting

- Exactly one fighting dog is registered in the Aßling community, and it lives in the Frauenneuharting community.

This resulted in a demand for development cooperation in the three town halls of the VG.

And so there is initially only one of those who are mainly affected by the fact that all three municipalities apply the dog tax at the turn of the year.

The occasion is a new model statute issued by the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior in the summer, which prompted the VG administration to bring the subject up again.

The Aßlinger manager Wilfried Graupe explains.

Most municipalities base their dog tax statutes on this proposal in order to have legal certainty.

500 euros a year for dog breeds that are considered aggressive

The Frauenneuhartinger fighting dog will cost its master 500 euros a year instead of the previous 300. This was decided by the council of the southern community at its most recent meeting.

The Emmeringer, who also made their decision in the penultimate meeting in 2020, also take the same sentence.

As mayor Claudia Streu-Schütze reports, the last increase in the dog tax, as in Frauenneuharting, took place at the turn of the millennium.

Dog toilets cost maintenance

In addition to the rate for attack dogs, the rate for the others is also increasing: Emmering and Frauenneuharting will in future charge 50 instead of 30 euros for the first and 70 instead of 50 euros for each additional dog in the household.

The municipalities use it to finance the maintenance of the dog toilets, for example.

Emptying these every 14 days would cost the Frauenneuharting community, working time and material added up, around 2000 euros a year.

Mayor Eduard Koch calculated that at the meeting.

The income from the dog tax was most recently around 2800 euros.

In Aßling the topic is on the agenda for Tuesday.

As manager Graupe explained, the administration is proposing to the councils to forego different taxation of first and second dogs.

Currently the first dog costs 40 euros, the second 60 euros, attack dogs such as pit bulls or Staffordshire bull terriers 400 euros;

the last increase came from 2011. The administration is proposing 60 euros for first and second dogs and 600 euros for attack dogs as new rates, according to Graupe.

The municipal councils have to decide.
