After the controversy that was generated last week between a group of teachers and the Buenos Aires Minister of Education, Soledad Acuña, now the City decided to move forward with a plan that includes the
opening of schools in January
, for those students who do not achieve the objectives to be evaluated before the end of the year.
The plan, which will be officially announced on Tuesday, includes guidelines for evaluation and promotion,
summer schools
and the "
early start of the 2021 cycle"
that, "with the aim of generating more teaching and learning opportunities and recovering face-to-face instances "will be released ahead of schedule.
The first step is the one that students and families must take to close the year.
They will receive in December a
final
pedagogical assessment
report
with a grade per subject.
In Secondary, the reports must be delivered between the 30th of this month and the 4/12.
In Primary, between 9/12 and 16/12.
For students in the last year of primary and secondary school (7th, 5th and 6th years), the
classical numerical scale
will be used
together with the descriptive report.
In the city there will be "summer schools" and the return to school will be on February 17th.

For the rest of the primary and secondary level students, the following scale will be used:
in process, sufficient and advanced
.
The last two indicate that the learning was achieved, with which the school year ends in December.
"In
process, it
indicates that the
prioritized learning
was not achieved
or the pedagogical continuity has not been sustained
. Students with this qualification will have instances of support, recovery and intensification of learning during 2021 to achieve the objectives and accredit the pending contents. And one of the instances will be the
Summer School "
, explained Education sources.
In the case of
Primary
, those who obtained a grade "in progress" in the curricular spaces will go on to the next grade under "accompanied promotion."
This group of students will participate in the
Summer School
.
As for Secondary, those who obtain a qualification "in process" in more than three curricular spaces will go to the following year under "promotion in process" and will also go to Summer School.
Boys and girls from room 5 will
promote directly to the primary level
In the City, summer schools will combine educational and recreational activities.

Summer school
It will run between
January 4 and 29
, with activities focused on learning needs plus recreational activities.
Between February 1 and 5, the activities will focus on students with learning "in process" and on the groups entering the first grade and first year, according to information from the Buenos Aires government.
As it transpired, teachers will be hired especially for summer tasks.
The recipients are "class 5 students
, Primary and Secondary level
who have not achieved the expected learning during the 2020 class period and who therefore have passed to the next year or grade in a situation of
accompanied promotion or in process"
.
In addition, enrollment will be opened for students in class 5 and Primary level who wish to participate in the Program until the available space is completed
The activities will take place 3 days at the school and 2 at the grounds and sports centers.
They will be a
single day, three and a half hours long
, and in morning and afternoon shifts.
To carry them out,
"bubble groups" of 9 students and a docent will
be made, who will monitor the trajectory of each student (partial report and final report).
According to what the Buenos Aires government communicated, for room 5 and Primary level there will be more than 116 venues (5/6 per school district).
In each one there will be up to 18 bubbles (9 per turn).
The groups will be arranged according to age: 5 to 8 years, 8 to 10 years and 10 to 13.
As for the Secondary, there will be 15 sites (one per commune) in schools, whose offer will be organized by cycles and by areas of knowledge: Exact Sciences;
Communication and Expression;
Social Sciences and Natural Sciences.
In each venue there will be up to
16 bubbles (8 per turn).
The possibility of transmitting classes will be given for students who cannot attend in person.
The Buenos Aires Minister of Education, Soledad Acuña, was at the center of a controversy last week.

"The next start of school will be
more challenging than ever
, because most of the boys and girls are going to have lost the routine of being students. Our role is to guarantee the same opportunities for everyone. That is why we redouble our efforts, we advance the date of start of classes and we propose summer school so that all students can start the 2021 school year in the best possible conditions, "said Acuña.
The minister has been demonstrating in favor of the face-to-face return to schools and last week she was at the center of a
controversy
with teachers, when she declared against those who do "political militancy", and asked to denounce them.
He received criticism from different union sectors and the Buenos Aires opposition, and even from the official media.
Back to school
Regarding the calendar stipulated by the City, the return of the personnel to the schools
will be on February 8.
On 2/17 a "period of diagnosis and strengthening" of content will begin for all students in the City.
The objective, they say from the City, is that "with this period of diagnosis and strengthening of content, the children can recover the routine, the habit of being students, and that the teachers know the starting point of each student to develop planning strategies and curricular articulation for 2021 ".
Of course, everything depends on the evolution of the pandemic in the City.
In the event that the return cannot be in full presence, a
mixed scheme
will be evaluated
to reduce the number of students.
