Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato Katsunobu met with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Prime Minister’s residence on November 25 to exchange views on the areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Katsunobu Kato said he was concerned about China's activities in the South China Sea and the situation in Hong Kong.

This is the first visit by a Chinese foreign minister to Japan since Suga Yoshihide took office as Japanese Prime Minister in September.

Kyodo.com reported that Wang Yi will hold talks with Toshimitsu Motegi at the Prime Minister's residence on the evening of the 25th.

Wang Yi said that although there are various problems between the two countries, they should be properly handled in accordance with the consensus so far, and cooperation can be carried out in wider areas.
