The area planted with irrigated lentils and baal crops in Al-Hasakah governorate for the current season has reached 12,200 hectares since the beginning of the cultivation operations at the beginning of this month and until this date.
The head of the Plant Production Department in the Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Jalal Bilal, stated in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the area planted with the Baal lentil crop amounted to 10 thousand and 800 hectares of the total planned area of 69,485 hectares, and the area planted with irrigated lentils is 1,400 hectares of the planned area of 8 thousand and 500 hectares.
Engineer Bilal indicated that the cultivation of the lentil crop is concentrated in the first and second agricultural stabilization areas, especially the areas of Abu Rasin, Amouda, Darbasiyah and the western countryside, and that the cultivation process usually continues until the middle of next month.
It is noteworthy that the area planted with the lentil crop in Al-Hasakah Governorate during the last season amounted to 34,100 hectares.
