Oise: a triple responsibility in the death of Grégory

2020-11-26T03:36:53.368Z

Tuesday evening, the Assize Court of Oise sentenced the three men who beat this 45-year-old marginal to death to sentences ranging from 15 to 1

One dead, three culprits.

Tuesday evening, the Assize Court of Oise sentenced Bryan Holderbaum, Bertrand Carmelo Bisset and Dylan Wegner to sentences of 18, 17 and 15 years in prison for the murder of Grégory F., a "marginal" found lifeless on June 30, 2017 in Tillé, near Beauvais.

The jurors decided to retain the principle of co-action and therefore to consider that the three men are responsible for the death of the victim.

"Even if they reject the responsibility, they are all aware of having given violent blows", decided the lawyer general Aurore Masson in her indictment.

And to evoke the intensity: a perforated kidney, 5 broken ribs, a fractured nose… The magistrate recalls that no less than “65 blows” were noted on the body of the victim of 45 years.

"A relentlessness"

That evening, it all started with the theft of a phone, that of Bryan Holderbaum, considered to be the initiator of the attack.

A theft of which Grégory F. would have been guilty.

The latter had then suffered the vindication of the three men in this apartment on the rue d'Amiens, in Beauvais, on the background of excessive consumption of alcohol and drugs.

“There was no break.

It was a relentlessness that lasted from Thursday evening to early Friday evening.

And all that ended with the death of the victim, ”said Aurore Masson.

For defense lawyers, it is difficult to establish “homicidal intent”.

“Right off the bat, my client said he never wanted this.

He never wished for the death of Grégory F. ”, pleaded Domitille Risbourg, lawyer for Bryan Holderbaum.

And to add that "the worst blows are those which he denounces from the beginning".

Namely those worn by Bertrand Carmelo Bisset.

"It is not Carmelo who gives the first blows, transports the body or cleans the apartment", replied his counsel, Guillaume Demarcq.

The lawyer also considered that this file should have been reclassified as "violence resulting in death without intention to give it".

The two convicted accomplices

Two other defendants also appeared - free - at this hearing.

Present at the time of the facts since it was her home, Déborah Charrier was accused of "non-assistance to a person in danger", "non-denunciation of a crime" and "modification of a crime scene".

She received a 24-month prison sentence, 16 of which were suspended.

As for Joé Déby - brother of Dylan Wegner, who was accused of having participated in the concealment of the body using his vehicle - he was sentenced to 18 months in prison, 6 of which were suspended.

Both were not, however, jailed after the trial.

On leaving the court, Grégory F.'s family seemed visibly moved and tired by these four days of trial.

Because regardless of the sentences handed down, confides the victim's brother-in-law, "it will not bring back Grégory".
