The Directorate of Water Resources in Homs continues to implement its various projects, which include maintenance of dams, construction and development of irrigation networks, removal of irrigation canals and other projects.

Engineer Ismail Ismail, Director of Water Resources in Homs, stated in a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the investment plan appropriations amounted to 362 million pounds to date, distributed over replacement and identification projects at a value of 266 million pounds and direct projects with about 97 million pounds, while the financial spending amounted to more than 189 million pounds. It exceeded 52 percent, indicating the completion of the implementation of the draft amendment of the technical dossier for the irrigation network project Aali al-Asi, with an area of ​​3300 hectares, the project of constructing a guard building and the investment of the Hula Dam.

As for the projects that are still under implementation between Ismail, there is an important number of projects with different implementation rates, such as the Maryamin Dam project at a cost of about 734 million, with a completion rate of 32.5 percent, and the maintenance project of the Nabi Khalifa Canal at a financial cost of 20.5 million pounds, with a completion rate of more than 28 percent in addition to a maintenance project The irrigation network of Upper Al-Asi was eliminated in Al-Qusair, at a cost of 17.5 percent, and the completion rate was 93.8 percent.

Ismail pointed out that there are projects to rehabilitate and maintain irrigation canals under implementation, such as the main canal maintenance project from the Homs Hama irrigation network at a cost of more than 334 million pounds, with a completion rate of 66.5 percent, in addition to the rehabilitation and maintenance of the sub-network of the Homs Hama irrigation network at a cost of 85 million pounds. Completion is about 71%, and the work completion rate in the Martyr Basil Al-Assad Dam / Zita project is about 99%, and its cost is more than 1.1 billion pounds.

He added: There are other projects under contract to implement them, including the project of implementing the rain canal for the Zeta Dam, in addition to the project of replacing parts of the irrigation networks of the Al Mazina Dam and Thawash, and a project for implementing a pipe warehouse in the Tal Kalakh center. Hula and the Palmyra Oasis Rescue Project, which aims to irrigate the oasis groves of 1060 hectares.

And on the most important difficulties and obstacles between Ismail that the current conditions that the country is going through have led to the stoppage of work in some projects, the most important of which is the inability to implement a modern irrigation network serving the Palmyra oasis in addition to the big changes in prices, which led to the re-announcement of the projects more than once, pointing to taking measures. To raise the pace of completion of work on projects, such as securing all work requirements and setting timetables to accelerate project completion.
