French heavyweight Tony Yoka signed the 9th victory of his professional career by beating German Christian Hammer on points unanimously by the judges on Friday in Nantes.
The Olympic champion (2016) thus remains undefeated since his stint with the pros and can continue his rise in the rankings.
Constantly advancing, the experienced Hammer was caught in his own trap by being cut in the right eye in the second round.
If he sometimes had trouble finding the right distance, Yoka generally mastered the debates without ever being really worried.
European champion objective
Hammer had assured the day before that he wanted to test Yoka's resilience and push him to his limits.
Big collector, the German of Romanian origin (33 years old) kept his word, preventing the Frenchman from picking an 8th success before the limit.
But he logically bowed, suffering his 7th defeat in 32 outings.
With this victory, Yoka (28) can now think bigger, he who made the world title his ultimate goal.
Its manager Jérôme Abiteboul is thus in negotiations for a fight from the month of December against the Croatian Peter Milas for the gain of the belt of European champion.
If successful, Yoka will be able to target boxers from the Top 15 in the world in 2021 and further gain ground.
