Four scientific academies, including those of medicine and pharmacy, denounced Friday, November 27 the conspiratorial video "
Hold-Up
" as being a "
bric-a-brac of nonsense
" and warn citizens against the "
falsity of information thus propagated
”.

In a press release, the academies of science, medicine, pharmacy and technology, believe that "
beyond health, attacks on science today affect many aspects of the life of our societies
".
Distributed on social networks and widely downloaded, “
Hold-Up
” intends to demonstrate that the Covid epidemic is “
manipulation of the rulers
”.
For the signatory academies, this "
long film (...), by giving itself the appearance of a documentary, develops a conspiracy theory on the Covid-19 pandemic
".
Its authors "
thus seek to minimize the seriousness of a pandemic
", which has caused some 45,000 deaths in ten months in France, recalls the academies, and to make believe that the health authorities are aiming to establish a "
surveillance system and coercion of the population
”.
The text then enumerates a list of opinions "
often confused and sometimes contradictory
", as well as information unfounded and contradicted by the facts, which constitute in the end "
a 'Hold-Up' on science
", as the title of the
press
release.
The signatories, for example, point the finger at the
crudest
"
infox
", such as the manufacture of the virus by the Pasteur Institute, or the confinement of patients, in Canada, in internment camps.
In the end, the academies fear that the dissemination of this “
information
”, “
especially among the youngest
”, is “
likely to compromise the rational basis of public health actions for the control of the current pandemic
”.
Whether in this case measures such as containment or an upcoming vaccination program.
