The ministerial committee in charge of following up on the implementation of projects in Sweida governorate was briefed today on the reality of work and the rates of implementation in the projects of the new Cardamom market, Kanaker well, Farid Al-Atrash Institute for Music, and a number of tourism facilities.

The committee also heard during an expanded meeting in the governorate building with members of the executive office of the governorate council and directors of government departments and institutions about the rates of completion of projects and obstacles encountered and projects that have been implemented and that work has started with the government grant that was provided to the governorate several months ago, which reached 2.75 billion Syrian pounds. .

Attendees' interventions focused on the need to accelerate the implementation of the irrigation project for the eastern and north-eastern villages in the governorate, which secures the water supply for 37 villages, digging wells for rips, knacks, and panting, and supplying 6 effort cranes with a capacity of 120 kW.

The interventions indicated the necessity of resuming work in the implementation of the stalled works at the al-Mushanf transfer station and support for infrastructure projects in the industrial zone in Umm al-Zaytun in addition to seeking to evacuate the house of Asmahan and handing it over to the Tourism Directorate, the importance of creating a cultural and tourist village and speeding up the completion of the Kom Telecom project and the importance of starting building permanent headquarters for the faculties of the Damascus University branch In Swaida, the payment of appropriate compensation for the health cadres working in dealing with the Corona virus, reviewing the central importation of medical supplies, re-work with the implementation of the TAMICO laboratory project, the support of the city council, and the supplying of the southern region development project with heavy machinery to be able to continue the reclamation of arable land.

The head of the committee, Minister of Communications and Technology, Eng. Iyad Al-Khatib, confirmed coordination with the Ministry of Water Resources to launch the irrigation project for the eastern and north-eastern regions in the governorate and work for the good fortune to implement the northern and southern drainage lines of the city of As-Suwayda by the donor organizations.

For her part, the Minister of Culture, Dr. Labana Mashouh, indicated that As-Suwayda is rich in its history, folklore, arts and literature, and has many literary and artistic figures, calling for securing a suitable site by the governorate to create a branch of the Higher Institute for Theatrical Arts in Sweida.

In his turn, Minister of Tourism Mohamed Rami Martini pointed to the remarkable development in the governorate in terms of projects, establishments, domestic tourism, and the existing cooperation between the ministries of tourism and culture within the cultural tourism projects and tourist routes in archaeological sites and monuments and joint festivals, with attention to transforming celebrities' homes into cultural and touristic landmarks.

The meeting was attended by the Governor of Sweida, Eng. Humam Sadiq Debiat, and the Chairman of the Provincial Council, Engineer Rasmi Al-Aissami.
