Advent in Corona times: Despite the canceled Christmas markets, the Christmas spirit arises here

Strolling through the Christmas market, enjoying a Christmas concert or doing a few laps on the ice rink - this is not possible as usual this Advent.

But there are alternatives.

• Due to the corona restrictions, many events cannot take place in Advent this year.

• But there are many alternatives to get in the mood for the Christmas season.

• With Christmas markets to drive through, festive lighting and online offers, the Christmas spirit still arises.

You don't have to do without the Christmas markets entirely: In Unterbrunn (Starnberg district), for example, there is a drive-in Christmas market with snow from the cannon and a lively nativity scene on the first two Advent weekends from Friday to Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. instead of.

Visitors experience all of this from the car.

There is a Budengasse with five Fieranten to drive through from Friday, December 4th to Sunday.

If possible, a small supporting program will be offered.

If you want to choose your Christmas tree from your car, you have the opportunity to do so in Unterweikertshofen (Dachau district) at the “X-mas Tree Drive-through”.

The trees are loaded directly into the vehicle and can be paid for from there.

It is open on the Advent weekends on Fridays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

You can also cut the trees yourself.

The Tannenhof in Oberweilbach (Dachau district) also offers the latter daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In many places there are decentralized serenades.

In Germering (Fürstenfeldbruck district), for example, there are several local stalls, in Wörthsee (Starnberg district), “Augustiner” delicacies are offered to take away and in Bad Tölz five food stands will be set up in the pedestrian zone from Saturday.

This Sunday there is sales from 1pm to 6pm.

At the Advent Shop Magic of the Free Waldorf School Munich Southwest, pupils sell handmade goods from December 1st to 19th every day (except Sundays) between 12 and 4 p.m.

Admire Christmas cribs in shop windows

Christmas cribs can be admired in shop windows in many places.

Manger trails are planned in Bad Tölz, Lenggries (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district), Holzkirchen (Miesbach district) and Neufahrn (Freising district), among others.

In Moosburg (Freising district), there are also 31 elf figures in the windows of the city center for the children.

Festive lighting lets buildings and windows shine

During the "Schliersee shines" campaign, distinctive points in Schliersee (Miesbach district) shine in Christmas splendor in the evening.

In many places in Bavaria the custom of the Advent window is maintained.

In Bad Bayersoien (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district) and Kochel am See (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district), for example, a decorated Advent window opens in a different house every evening in December.
