The Islamic Republic gives back to its
"martyr"
Mohsen Fakhrizadeh a tribute reserved for his highest dignitaries.
Before his burial this Monday in the holy city of Qom, the remains of the eminent nuclear physicist, presumably assassinated by Israel on Friday, arrived on the night of Saturday to Sunday in the other holy city of Mashhad, after passing through the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in Tehran.
In Mashhad, before a special religious service, the body was carried in procession around the tomb of Imam Reza, a sacred figure of Shiism.
This sequence recalls the homage already paid in January to another "hero" of the Iranian revolution, General Qassem Soleimani, head of the al-Quds Force, armed wing of Iran outside its borders, assassinated in Baghdad in Iraq by order of Donald Trump.
On Saturday, the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had called for
"punishing"
the perpetrators of this new targeted assassination, without however using the term revenge.
