After Diego Maradona died on November 25, not only Argentina, but the whole world paid tribute to the best soccer player in history.
As always, not all of them were
devotees of Ten.
However, with few exceptions, those who had no words of thanks to add, chose silence.
This was not the case with the president of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, who became a trend in social networks after, in the face of insistent questions from journalists in his country about Diego's death, he answered in a
cold and distant way
, which some even took as a
lack of respect.
Specifically, the politician began by assuring that "
Diego was a great soccer player"
and that the day before
"he had seen a video of Maradona, when he dominates a ball, with the song 'Live is Life in the background",
which he described as
"a work of art".

Notero: "Did the news move you, did it hit you hard?"
Lacalle Pou: "No, no"

Immediately, when asked if the news had moved him, he evidenced his position:
"The news did not hit me. Why should I? He is a great soccer player, but I stay with Francescoli."
Finally, they asked him if what Maradona did as a footballer and his private life should be separated or if they were part of a whole, and Lacalle Pou said that it was not his place to comment on that.
"He is an idol of crowds and I am the president of the Republic. It is not for me to comment on that. If you want, in a particular way, one day we will have a mate and talk," he concluded.
