Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit this evening (Sunday) addressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Deputy Prime Minister Bnei Gantz and called on them to quickly advance the transfer of the state budget to 2020 and 2021.
The ombudsman's call came against the backdrop of the political dispute between the Likud and Blue and White over the transfer of the state budget.
Just last week Supreme Court President Esther Hayut said during a hearing in the petition against the postponement of the budget that due to the delay "the state is in violation of a Basic Law".
This is the second time in a few days that Mandelblit is calling on Netanyahu and Gantz to hurry up and make moves in the government. Last Thursday, in response to a petition submitted to the High Court, the ombudsman sought to issue a conditional order for the appointment of a commissioner, ie to oblige the state.
