The film composer Martina Eisenreich from Maierklopfen is happy about a high award from the middle of the film industry.

She was awarded the television prize of the German Television Academy in the category "Best Music" for the Spreewald thriller "Time of the Wolves"

Maierklopfen -

"I am super happy, also because the award comes directly from the filmmakers," said the musician in an interview with our newspaper.

The award was given for the eighth time, and Eisenreich was the first woman to be recognized in her division.

In contrast to other television awards, there is no jury: the approximately 800 members of the academy voted together.

In their division, Eisenreich Ben Frost, an Australian composer with Icelandic roots for the internationally known Netflix series "Dark", and the Austrian composer Dominik Giesriegl for the film "A village is fighting back" were nominated.

Because of the pandemic, an online gala took place in a Berlin cinema with moderators and a live band.

Eisenreich took part in the big nominees conference at home in her studio.

While husband Wolfgang with the children Ferdinand, Leo and Emil watched the public award ceremony on the screen in the living room, the film composer was excited for the result alone in the studio next door.

When her name was mentioned, her camera and microphone were switched on online, and she was brought live on stage in Berlin via a large screen, so to speak.

The decision surprised the composer, especially since she really appreciates the “great music” of her colleague Ben Frost.

“I didn't expect to win.

That is a huge recognition. "

Although Corona presents cultural workers with great challenges and many projects in the industry have collapsed, the crisis year brought great successes and new experiences for Eisenreich.

She consciously accepted the lockdown with all the concert cancellations.

“For example, I didn't give any streaming concerts because that can't be a substitute anyway.

In this state of emergency, it is better to make it clear that something important is missing if the culture does not take place and that under these circumstances it cannot take place either.

I hope all the more that there will soon be enough space to reflect appropriately in politics on the situation in culture. "

For the composer, however, the special circumstances also created new freedom.

So this year there was significantly more time for her film music work: you can see it in numerous television premieres at prime time on ARD and ZDF.

Among other things, she received the considerable commission to compose the music for the Tatort anniversary "In der Familie II".

Germany's oldest and most successful crime series is turning 50, and ARD is celebrating with a double episode in which the police from Dortmund and Munich investigate together.

Both episodes can be enjoyed independently as regards content.

On St. Nicholas Sunday, December 6th, at 8:15 pm, the crime scene “In der Familie II” will be played with music by Eisenreich.

“It is of course a great honor to be able to write the music for the anniversary crime scene.

In addition, this new crime scene by Pia Strietmann has become something very special in all areas: a moving family story from the mafia milieu, with a dense atmosphere, dramatic force and rousing, authentic dialogues in German and Italian. "
