Bad Tölz / Arzbach

- In the future, a woman will direct the operations of the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) in the district.

Christiane Bader is the first head of operations in the BRK rescue service in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district.

The 23-year-old Arzbacherin was recently appointed to her new position by BRK district manager Andreas Schäfer.

Bader has been active in the BRK since 2015.

In 2016 she began her training as an emergency paramedic and has been active in this profession ever since.

She will share her duties with 14 other operational leaders in the region and has been trained accordingly.

“It's nice to be the first woman in this field,” says Bader.

The desire to take this step had grown in her over time.

“Operations management is simply an interesting part of the rescue service.” And certainly a demanding one, because Bader's future tasks are diverse.

The operations manager's tasks are varied

During operations, she will be the contact person for the rescue service for all forces involved in the operation, such as the police and fire brigade, and will maintain constant communication with the integrated control center.

In addition, Bader will ensure that the operation runs smoothly, assess the damage situation and coordinate the emergency services.

Finally, the distribution of the patients to the hospitals, the documentation of the incident and the preparation of the final report belong to their tasks.

“Operations management is a voluntary service,” says Andreas Schäfer.

Christiane Bader is not paid for this extra work.

This commitment is to be rated all the higher, according to the district manager.

For the 23-year-old, this is no reason to let herself be discouraged from this path: “It's just a very diverse field and I keep working with new teams.” That ultimately tipped the balance - and of course it was one too A good portion of passion for the job included.
