The power failure in Puchheim on Friday and the failure of the heating in the school center on Monday are related.

The reason was a short circuit.

Update on Monday evening

A short circuit and its consequences: On Friday evening, the electricity in Puchheim went out on a large scale, which also had an effect on Monday: While the people of Puchheim soon had light again, the heating in the school center failed at the start of the week, so the students went home again had to.

On Tuesday, however, lessons should take place on site again.

One after the other: As the responsible Bayernwerke report on request, there was a short circuit on an underground cable in the Puchheim train station area last Friday at 5.49 p.m.

1900 households were briefly without electricity.

The vast majority of them were back online after about a minute, thanks to automatic connections, according to Bayernwerke.

The last households had electricity again at 7:37 p.m.

Such a short circuit can occur for various reasons.

For example due to cable obsolescence or construction work.

The school center was then also affected by the network failure, confirmed the Bayernwerke on Monday evening.

Because the control system was switched to malfunction as a result of the power failure.

As a result, the control valve of the Bayernwerke district heating station remained closed.

Therefore there was no district heating - the two school buildings stayed cold.

The fault has now been resolved, according to a spokesman for Bayernwerke.

The school was heated again from around 11 a.m.

The unexpected failure of the heating on Monday morning meant a nasty surprise for the Realschule and Gymnasium.

In addition to the already very cool temperatures in the schools, there were corona-related ventilation regulations, so that lessons were not reasonable, said a spokeswoman for the high school when asked.

So the students had to go home again.

They tried as quickly as possible to enable distance lessons at least from the third hour.

On Tuesday, however, normal lessons will be possible again, as long as the word “normal” is currently appropriate.

In general, there is currently much more organizational work than usual due to Corona, said the spokeswoman for the high school.

"And then there is that too."

The first report from Monday morning

Puchheim - the reason is rather the failure of the heating system that supplies both schools.

Hundreds of young people are affected who have to take the buses back home in the morning.

However, emergency care is sometimes organized on site.

The connection to a district heating network should have taken place at the weekend, but it did not work.

How to go on was unclear on Monday morning.

The Realschule reported on its homepage that the classrooms of the Realschule are cold.

The Corona hygiene concept stipulates that the rooms should be ventilated regularly, which is not possible due to the outside temperatures.

The face-to-face teaching will therefore be switched to distance teaching this Monday: the students will be provided with tasks via the teams system.

The grammar school also wants to set up distance lessons: “Wherever possible, distance lessons are offered on the usual channels from the third hour onwards,” it said on the homepage.
