Finally the expected call came.

Alberto Fernández and Joe Biden

spoke on Monday for the first time since the American's triumph

in the presidential elections against Donald Trump.

It was a first conversation, in which the Argentine, who was at the Quinta de Olivos with Foreign Minister Felipe Solá, congratulated the democrat on his victory in the agitated elections on November 3.

Fernández had already sent him a similar message on Twitter in those first days of the month.

The call had been working for a few days from the ambassador in Washington,

Jorge Argüello

, who was in Buenos Aires last week, coordinating various issues.

In those days, Argüello met with the President, with the Foreign Minister, with the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, and with other officials to coordinate questions of what relationship is sought with the Democratic administration and what can be expected.

During the United States electoral campaign, Fernández and his government were called into silence so as not to speak for one candidate or another (the re-election of Trump or the election of Biden), although the trend was confirmed on November 3, expressions began to circulate in favor of the democrat.

Fernández's only conversation with Trump took place on November 1 of last year,

days after the triumph that brought him to the Casa Rosada.

It was a short but cordial dialogue.

“Congratulations on the great victory.

We saw it on television, "said the US president, as indicated in a newsletter from Fernández's team.

In addition, Trump conveyed: “You are going to do a fantastic job.

I hope to meet you immediately.

His victory has been commented all over the world ”.

Since then they have not communicated more, and the American formed an alliance with the Brazilian Jair Bolsonaro.

The communication this Monday

came after a series of appointments by Biden

, who has already revealed who will make up his Cabinet

Argentina needs Washington's support for its debt renegotiations with the IMF, something that did not occur explicitly during the Donald Trump administration.

On the other hand, there are pending trade issues between Argentina and the US One of them is the forceful brake on the entry of Argentine biodiesel into Washington due to the increase in tariffs, which

affected exports of US $ 1.3 billion

a year.

The Government does not rule out protesting to the World Trade Organization about it.

And, in turn, recently, the United States raised "concerns" against barriers to imports that the government increased throughout this year.
