The Knesset plenum today (Monday) approved in first reading the bill for the absorption of discharged soldiers, according to which it is proposed to stipulate that a discharged soldier who completed his regular service in 2020 will be entitled to an additional one-time grant.
16 supported without opponents and the proposal will be forwarded to the Absorption and Aliyah Committee.
A single discharged soldier or whose application for family payment has been approved will receive NIS 4,500, a discharged soldier who has served at least 22 months of service - NIS 1,800, and if he has served less than 22 months - NIS 1,000.
The explanatory memorandum reads: "On July 29, the Knesset approved the Economic Assistance Plan Law. The law amended, among other things, the Law on the Absorption of Veterans, and stipulated that a one-time grant, amounting to NIS 500, be given to every discharged soldier In 2020. Now, due to the prolongation of the health and economic crisis, it is proposed to add a provision regarding an additional grant to be given to all soldiers who were released in 2020 and to those who will be released by the end of this year.
"To finance this grant, NIS 120 million will be transferred from the Ministry of Finance and NIS 12 million will be transferred from the Ministry of Defense to the Fund for the Absorption of Veterans in the Ministry of Defense, which will work directly to transfer the bank accounts of eligible discharged soldiers."
