Dr Scott Atlas, a very controversial member of the White House coronavirus crisis cell set up by President Donald Trump, announced Monday, December 1, that he had resigned.

"I am writing these lines in order to resign from my post as Special Advisor to the President of the United States,"
read Dr. Atlas' letter dated the same day, published on his Twitter account and which had leaked into the American press.
Hired in August in the White House coronavirus crisis unit, the 65-year-old neuroradiology specialist's contract expired this week, according to Fox News.
"I have worked hard with one goal: to save lives and help Americans get through this pandemic,"
wrote Dr Atlas, adding that
"I
have
always relied on the latest scientific information and evidence, without any political consideration or affecting."
Scott Atlas was however highly contested by the scientific community and many public health experts, in particular for his positions against containment measures and the wearing of masks.

he tweeted in October before the social network blocked its publication.

The doctor also said that the prolonged containment measures were
"very damaging"
for Americans, urging residents of Michigan, where the virus has killed more than 9,500 people, in November to
"protest"
against such measures.
The most bereaved country in the world by the pandemic, the United States, which is currently experiencing a new outbreak of contaminations, has recorded more than 267,000 deaths and more than 13.5 million Covid-19 infections, according to the Johns University count Hopkins who refers.
