United States: Joe Biden's victory confirmed after all recounts

2020-12-01T06:29:41.873Z

The Democratic candidate has won a majority in key states of Arizona and Wisconsin, confirming his victory in the election

Donald Trump's strategy of denial is further weakened.

Key states from Arizona to Wisconsin officially certified Joe Biden's US presidential victory on Monday, further cementing the Democrat's success against Donald Trump, who has yet to concede defeat.

All American states have now certified their results.

Arizona was the first state to make its announcement.

“Today, we signed the certification of the 2020 election in Arizona,” tweeted Doug Ducey, the Republican governor of this state who has fallen into the Democratic camp for the first time in nearly 25 years.

Today, we signed the canvass for the 2020 election in Arizona.

I'm grateful to the voters, the county election offices, the county recorders' offices, & the poll workers across the state for their dedication to the success of our election system.

Joe Biden wins a narrow victory, by 10,457 votes in advance in a state where nearly 3.5 million voters have voted.

A "transparent" election

Head of electoral operations, Arizona Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs hailed an election "conducted with transparency, precision and fairness [...], despite numerous unfounded allegations to the contrary."

Arizona has also certified the victory of the Democratic candidate for the Senate, Mark Kelly, so that he "can be sworn in as quickly as possible," said Doug Ducey.

The certification of results in Arizona does not necessarily sign the end of recourse to the courts, this state allowing the results to be contested even after they have been validated.

Donald Trump's campaign team has in fact tried - without success so far - to hinder the process of certification of results in key states won by Joe Biden through legal remedies.

Wisconsin also in the pocket

Later that day on Monday, Wisconsin also confirmed the victory for the Democratic candidate, with about 20,700 votes ahead.

🔴Wisconsin in turn certifies the results and the victory of Biden with a little more than 20,000 votes in advance, who wins the top 10 voters.

For this recount, Donald Trump's campaign team had disbursed three million dollars, in accordance with Wisconsin's request.

An expense that will only have served to consolidate the lead of Joe Biden.

The outgoing president had promised on Saturday that he would attack the results of the poll in this key state.
