- Gerda Rossmanith was a cheerful person, says her son-in-law Immanuel Koppitz.
“A couple of years don't go,” she always said.
But that she lost almost all of her savings to phone fraudsters was too much for the 82-year-old from Fürstenfeldbruck.

At the beginning of September, the pensioner received a call from an alleged police officer.
"Gerdi should help as a decoy to convict corrupt bank employees of their house bank", explains Immanuel Koppitz the scam of the fraudsters.
Because with amounts over 20,000 euros, employees would allegedly also spend counterfeit money in addition to real money.
Gerda Rossmanith withdrew money three times in total: two 25,000 euros each and one 23,000 euros.
In order to be able to withdraw such large sums, you have to give a reason.
“The fraudsters cleverly arranged it.
You asked Gerdi if she had grandchildren and if one of them had a house, ”says Koppitz.
His mother-in-law answered the questions in the affirmative.
"The alleged policeman then said that she should tell the bank that she needed the money for one of her grandchildren and a solar system on his house." The other grandson's home furnishings were also used as a reason for withdrawal.
Another fraudster then picked up the money from Gerda Rossmanith's home.
The trained fur seamstress, who had also worked at BMW, should have withdrawn money a fourth time on October 20th.
But an attentive bank employee became suspicious.
"She did not give my mother-in-law the money of 27,000 euros and called my wife," says Immanuel Koppitz.
Only after he and his wife had persuaded the 82-year-old girl several times did she reveal the tragedy to the real criminal police.
False police officers bring senior citizens for 73,000 euros
The officers informed her that she had lost the 73,000 euros to fraudsters.
“We persuaded her well and said that it wasn't that bad and that she could go on living normally without having to restrict herself,” says the son-in-law.
Only her younger grandson is the victim.
He should have gotten money for his condo since his brother got money for his house too.
Nevertheless: "Everything seemed to be fine," says Immanuel Koppitz.
And yet he felt that the betrayal had changed his mother-in-law.
She said more and more often that she could no longer do it.
Koppitz's impression did not mislead him.
When he drove away from his mother-in-law at 4:30 pm on October 20, he saw her for the last time.
The diabetic injected her usual dose of insulin at 6 p.m.
"You can see that in her insulin book, which she kept very conscientiously." The entry at 10 pm is missing.
Gerda Rossmanith had injected herself an overdose.
She couldn't live with the shame of falling for the wrong cops.
"The fraudsters drove my mother-in-law to her death," says Immanuel Koppitz.
He wants to make the story of his mother-in-law public so that other seniors don't feel the same way: “Please talk to someone about it or call 110.
Better to call them once too often than once too little, ”the 55-year-old appeals to all older people.
Police warn: more and more fake police officers on the phone
The number of calls from alleged police officers in the region is increasing daily.
Several police stations warned again yesterday of fraudsters on the phone.
For example, the Munich police say: “Police officers in civilian clothes always legitimize themselves by showing their ID.” False detectives claim, for example, that there was a break-in in the neighborhood and that they should see money or jewelry storage locations in the apartment.
The police advise: "Before you let a stranger into your apartment, make sure you call the police emergency number 110 yourself whether it is actually a police officer!"
