The neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque (39) requested, through his lawyer Julio Rivas, a request for exemption from prison in the framework of the case investigating the death of Diego Maradona (60).

Although he has not yet been charged with any crime, the defense action requested by the doctor is a preventive measure that could be activated in the case of being formally investigated and thus avoid a possible arrest.

Luque has not yet been charged with any crime, although in the operations they read him his rights and the case is heading towards a formal accusation against him.

Justice seeks to determine if there was negligence on his part in the treatment of Maradona, who died without having an ambulance with a defibrillator and only with a nurse who had not even checked him the morning of his death, without a doctor nearby.

The day this Monday at the headquarters of the San Isidro Attorney General's Office, on Acassuso street 476, began around 9:10 in the morning with the arrival of the neurosurgeon Luque along with Rivas, one of his lawyers, with the intention of declaring spontaneous way.

However, two of the prosecutors handling the case, Cosme Iribarren and Laura Capra, informed the defense that the file was not in conditions today to take a statement from their client and that, in any case, they should make a written presentation.
