The Supreme Court of Justice would be about to confirm the conviction of the former Vice President of the Nation Amado Boudou and the others sentenced for
corruption in the Ciccone case
.
The highest court has a meeting of agreements this Thursday, and according to judicial sources in that meeting the rejection of the complaint resources presented by the convicted could be signed after the confirmation of the sentences by the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation.
Boudou, who is due to serve five years and ten months in prison, was released this year.
The Court could unanimously vote on the dismissal of the appeals presented by the former vice president, his friend and partner
José María Núñez Carmona
, the previous owner of the printing press,
Nicolás Ciccone
, the chief of advisers to Ricardo Echegaray at AFIP,
Rafael Resnick Brenner
, and Boudou's advisor at the Ministry of Economy,
Guido Forcieri
.
If this resolution is confirmed, the last knot that still separates Cristina Kirchner's running mate in 2011 from the unappealable adjective corrupt would be untied.
On August 7, 2018, Boudou and his partner Núñez Carmona were sentenced by the Federal Oral Court 4 to serve a sentence of
five years and ten months in prison
for passive bribery and negotiations incompatible with the public function.
Nicolás Tadeo Ciccone received a sentence of four and a half years in prison for active bribery;
Alejandro Vandenbroele
- the head of the firm The Old Fund and figurehead of Boudou, later repentant - to two years in suspended prison as a necessary participant in the crimes of passive bribery and negotiations incompatible with the public function;
Rafael Resnick Brenner to three years in prison suspended for negotiations incompatible with the civil service;
and César Guido Forcieri to two and a half years in suspended prison for negotiations incompatible with the public function.
The sentence and their respective penalties were confirmed by Chamber IV of the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation in July 2019.
If the Court puts the last signature on the case, Boudou, Núñez Carmona and Nicolás Tadeo Ciccone
should begin serving their sentences immediately
.
After two exits and subsequent re-entries in prison, the former vice was finally released in April of this year under a strong controversy, since the Mar del Plata disc jockey
does not suffer from any disease that would justify his release from prison
as a preventive measure against the pandemic of COVID 19.
The Ciccone case investigated the maneuver by which Boudou and his friend Núñez Carmona pressured the Ciccone brothers to keep their printing press, and immediately obtained from the AFIP commanded by
Ricardo Echegaray
an unbeatable payment plan for the tax debts they had suffocated its previous owners.
Shortly afterwards, Boudou got Ciccone to be hired by the Front for Victory to print electoral ballots, and later he won the biggest prize: the printing of legal tender bills, thanks to the consent of the head of the Mint and goddaughter the then Minister of Economy and then Vice President of the Nation, Katya Daura.
