The head of the technical committee for badminton in Homs, Ahmed Al-Sawas, explained in a statement to the SANA sports correspondent that badminton is a game that requires high physical fitness, speed and intelligence, and it is one of the distinguished sports in Homs, where the Homs team players have led the provincial rankings in the local championships since 2015 for different groups and the governorate players form The main reserve for the national team.
Al-Sawas pointed out that Al-Wathba Club is one of the clubs that have preserved this sport since 1985 until now and worked to develop and advance it, in addition to the return of the Karama Club to playing this game since 2015 and the entry into the Homs Police Club about three years ago, which increased its activity, vitality and progress. "Our foreign participation was limited to the age groups under 15 and 17 years, the last of which was our participation in the West Asia Championship in 2018 in Beirut and we got a gold, three silver and nine bronze medals, and in 2019 we got three silver and five bronze medals in the West Asia Championship in Jordan," Al-Sawas said, adding that this year The establishment of the Republic Championship in Lattakia under the age of 11 and 13 years and we won the first place and recently participated in the Republic Championship for the National Team U-15 Experiences, which was held in Damascus recently.
