Rottach-Egern

- Employees of members of the Bundestag receive a corona bonus of up to 600 euros.

This also applies to the five employees of Alexander Radwan (CSU), whom the constituency of Miesbach and Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen elected to Berlin.

In our conversation, he explains why he is used to assessing the premium objectively.

Alexander Radwan (CSU) on Corona bonus for employees: "Our employees should not be singled out"

Mr. Radwan, your employees also receive a corona bonus from the state.

Do you think that's fair?

You have to see the big picture.

The bonus is not a bonus for employees of members of the Bundestag.

On October 25, the unions and the collective bargaining partners agreed on special payments in the public sector.

All public employees, including bus drivers, administrative staff and carers, receive these bonuses.

Our employees also fall under these provisions.

So they get bonuses too.

This is automatic, they are entitled to the money according to the collective agreement.

Still: up to 600 euros is a lot of money, isn't it?

You have to look carefully there too.

The bonuses are staggered: employees in the lowest salary classes one and two in the collective bargaining system receive a bonus of 600 euros.

The higher the salary group, the lower the bonuses.

This means that the bus drivers and carers who do the work on site receive the highest bonuses.

Nurses can even get up to 1500 euros.

There is less money for employees of members of the Bundestag.

You get a one-time payment of 300 euros.

How do you assess claims that members of the Bundestag should donate bonuses?

Our employees should not be singled out.

Colleagues who work in the city administration on the same tariff are not asked the question.

In addition, my employees are challenged by the numerous inquiries from the constituency during the Corona crisis.

So you also do something for the money.
