An earthquake that occurred in the afternoon (Saturday) in the area between Turkey, Antalya and Cyprus, was also felt in Israel, especially in the north of the country.

The official noise level, at the moment, is 5.3 and is about 80 kilometers deep.

Many residents, especially in Tiberias and Safed, reported feeling the quake well.

Oshri Weizmann, a resident of Tiberias who felt the earthquake: "I was lying in bed and suddenly I felt tremors. The bed made a trip of a few centimeters.

"It was scary, this is the first time I feel an earthquake." Shira, another resident of Tiberias, said: "It was very scary. I was lying in bed watching TV. Suddenly I felt the bed move.

In the area of Haifa, the Krayot, Acre and Nahariya, the earthquake was felt mainly in the high areas such as the Carmel ridge and high-rises in the area of the shoreline.

Meital Cohen, a resident of the Vardia neighborhood in Carmel, told Israel Today: "There were two short waves of earthquakes.

The first wave was barely noticeable, the chandeliers in the house moved a bit and we went out to the balcony to try to understand what had happened and noticed other neighbors coming out and then the second wave was felt which was relatively more powerful.

The house was really moving and it was not pleasant at all. '

According to Cohen, other neighbors who went out to the balconies also felt the second wave and were frightened;

'The neighbors who went out on the porch ran home, others let the children in and out of the stairwell for fear of further waves.

I called my mother and sister who live in the Gulf and the Krayot area and they told me they did not feel anything. '

The Home Front Command confirmed this and issued a statement on the subject: "A magnitude 5.4 earthquake occurred in the Mediterranean near Turkey and was felt in northern Israel. As a result, we are refreshing the guidelines on how to behave during an earthquake. If it is not possible to leave the building, enter the security room and leave the door and windows open or go out to the stairwell and continue down to the exit of the building.

Only if this can not be done, take shelter under heavy furniture.

Those who stay outside - stay outside and stay away from buildings, bridges and power poles.

Those staying at the beach - should leave the beach for fear of a tsunami.

Passengers in the vehicle - the vehicle must be stopped, the engine stopped and the vehicle must remain.

Do not stop near bridges and interchanges.
