The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria Geir Pedersen announced that the members of the small committee to discuss the constitution agreed on the agenda of the fifth round on the twenty-fifth of next month, in case Corona’s circumstances permit.

Pedersen said during a press conference at the conclusion of the fourth round in Geneva today that the members of the small body of the committee discussed over the course of five days a wide range of issues and said: "There are some aspects of common ground and we hope that when we meet again that this will allow us to build on them."

He added: “The meetings were useful and I can say that we are seeking points that we can use to move forward,” indicating that the committee has agreed on the agenda for the next meeting, which begins on the twenty-fifth of January, if the circumstances of the Corona epidemic permit.

Pederson explained that the work of the Constitution Debate Committee is important, as it deals with basic issues regarding the situation in Syria, calling on the international community to help reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
