- “Environmentally friendly, sustainable, delicious”: Ludovic Gerboin, master baker and owner of Moosinninger Bäckerei Ways, created a box-office hit at the beginning of the year with his receipts.

The Ways bakery has now been awarded the Zacharias finalist prize “Best of 2020” for this creative marketing and PR concept.

"The success of the donuts was unbelievable and surprised me," said Gerboin at the award ceremony presented by Marcus Pertl and Alexander Lang-Geißinger from CSM Bakery Solutions.

According to a press release, there were again numerous applicants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the Zacharias, the industry award for the bakery trade.

The Ways bakery stood out in particular with the donut concept.

The idea behind the campaign: As a sweet protest against the obligation to receive a receipt, the carnival donuts were decorated with an edible receipt made of fondant.

The pastry with a political message turned into a sales success.

Photos quickly circulated on social media - the Bon-Krapfen went viral and even received a lot of international attention.

The Ways bakery “succeeded in staging the receipt obligation with wit and irony in a particularly creative way,” was the verdict of the jury.

With this unusual marketing concept, the bakery “commented on a current problem in the industry in a humorous way and at the same time created a broad platform for the popular donut.

A thoroughly successful concept for us. "

The Zacharias Prize is awarded every year to bakeries that have made a special contribution to the image of artisan baked goods with creative marketing ideas and committed press and public relations work.

The top 10 applicants will also be honored with the Zacharias finalist award.
