A flower-shaped ring studded with more than 12,000 diamonds entered the Guinness Book of Records for an Indian jeweler who refused to put it up for sale.

"I have always wanted to design a jewel with more than ten thousand diamonds ... and over the years I have dispensed with many designs and ideas to focus exclusively on this goal," said jeweler Harish Bansal from the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

He pointed out that this dream project saw the light two years ago when he was studying jewelry design in the city of Surat, which is one of the most prominent sites for the diamond industry in India.

Bansal received many offers to acquire the jewel, but he said, "There is no intention to sell it until now ... It is a matter of pride for us and it is priceless."

This gem, called The Marigold, includes the Prosperity Seal (12638) of a diamond that weighs over 165 grams.

Bansal also broke the previous Guinness World Record for a ring encrusted with 7,801 diamonds.
