This time no fewer than eight companies applied to the local council for commercial space in the municipality of Oberding.

The most famous: Rolls-Royce wants to Schwaig.

Schwaig - A king's luxury coach is parked in Schwaig?

After the Oberdingen municipal council meeting on Thursday, this could soon be anything but utopia.

The areas that the municipality intends to sell for the expansion of the industrial park are in great demand.

Numerous companies have already presented themselves in a public meeting of the municipal council in the past few months, but so far there had not been as many at one stroke as on Thursday.

The most famous of the eight companies: Schmidt Premium Cars / Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Munich.

The authorized signatory is himself a Schwaiger

Authorized signatory Robert Müller, who lives in Schwaig and runs the BMW / MINI & Rolls-Royce dealership in Baierbrunn, attended the meeting together with Managing Director Georg Pfeffer.

Here he has his network, it is so easier to find workers, explained Müller why Rolls-Royce on Eichenstrasse in Schwaig has a modern car dealership with a new car sales area, used car exhibition, workshop, parking space on 2500 to 3500 square meters and a large office wing.

The goal is up to 50 employees.

“High-quality workers are not just available on the free market, BMW makes it difficult for us.

That's why we train ourselves, ”said Müller.

In Schwaig, the luxury cars are not supposed to be built, but sold and serviced.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Munich is the brand's sales and service partner, one of just four dealers in Germany.

According to Müller, the proximity to the airport speaks for the Schwaig location.

The branches in Vienna and Bucharest would also benefit from their proximity to the respective airports.

“We don't take anything away from anyone,” promised Müller with regard to other car dealerships in the district.

The company operates under the umbrella of the large MHS Holding, which also looks after BMW MINI, among other things.

Only the Rolls-Royce brand is planned in Schwaig and a second brand in the luxury car or e-car sector.

“Prestige and Glamor” for Schwaig?

Despite Corona: Müller and Pfeffer spoke of a record year and a 50 percent increase in sales.

Pfeffer explained it like this: In the dreary lockdown time, in which you have to sit at home a lot, you treat yourself to a luxury car for 500,000 to 600,000 euros - as a kind of self-motivation.

Customers include industrialists, privateers and even royal families.

In an interview with our newspaper, Müller said that “prestige and glamor” would come to Schwaig - should Rolls-Royce win the municipal council's bid.

This will decide on the allocation of space in the first quarter of 2021.

It's not just about areas on Eichenstrasse, but about other smaller ones in Schwaig.

The municipality may also implement three small commercial areas in Oberding.

Energy storage wholesalers: three successful young entrepreneurs

Three successful young entrepreneurs in their early 30s come from Marzling and Attaching and founded the Memodo company in 2013.

As they described, they started on a small scale at Mama’s home and have grown into a wholesaler for energy storage systems, and since 2015 they have been the largest supplier in Europe.

Among other things, it is about photovoltaic systems, charging stations, e-cars and heating.

The company purchases individual components and assembles complete systems.

Today the three in a booming industry have 80 employees in Munich - “we are already bursting at the seams”.

In Schwaig they squint at 15,000 square meters.

In addition to a warehouse, they want to build a training center and office space for up to 300 employees.

The market will give it away in the next five to six years.

There would be four truck trips per day.

Memodo currently has 32 million euros in equity and five trainees.

The goal in the future is a trainee quota of ten percent among the employees.

Gienger Logistik KG from Markt Schwaben has a 51 percent stake, whose personally liable partner Martin Kübelsbeck, a native of Niederdingen, was also present at the presentation.

Two councilors are also applying

Of course, the other entrepreneurs who introduced themselves on Thursday bake smaller rolls.

Including two local councils.

Electrical installation master Matthias Reitinger (WG Notzing), who currently has five employees, would like to have 2,000 square meters and finally an apprentice again.

That's why he wants to create living space in addition to an office and warehouse, "so that we can win over people from further afield".

His council colleague Christian Kaiser (WG Oberding) runs K&S Training GmbH together with Martin Stöckl from Wartenberg, which focuses on the training of fire protection, evacuation and first aiders.

Business partners include Texas Instruments in Freising, pay-TV broadcaster Sky, Constantin Film AG and the Wartenberg Clinic.

K&S, which has five employees and three freelancers, focuses on 1000 to 1200 square meters.

Small and medium-sized companies in particular often lack the space.

There are no noise emissions, Kaiser promised the neighbors.

"It sounds like heating up a Weber grill," he said, referring to the exercises.

Tragic roller accident

Johann Zech meanwhile is aiming with his haulage and self-loading business to move from Erding to Schwaig, where he would like to have 2,500 square meters for a machine shop and operations manager's apartment.

He spoke about the terrible roller accident in Klettham in 2017, in which his father was killed (we reported).

With his brother he had a "hiccup", he had to vacate his place on the old company premises.

Zech's son should join the company in 2025, then the company should be expanded to include a gardening and landscaping company.

Zech wants to increase the current annual turnover of 150,000 euros to 400,000 to 500,000 euros.

The plumber, founded in 2016 by Florian Stuber from Grucking, is slowly running out of space, which is why he is drawn to the municipality of Oberding.

“We'd like to recruit trainees, but the market doesn't exist,” Stuber reported.

Thomas Reitinger from Notzingen has a heating and plumbing company and hopes, among other things, for storage and office space on 1,800 square meters.

On the other hand, it can be around five times as much for Günter Weber from SKS, which is already based in Schwaig.

For around 25 years she has been cutting, punching and laser cutting adhesive tape and abrasives for customers, including Tesa and Henkel.

But the space is running out.

“We built our hall in Oberding ten years ago, and the 2017 addition didn't help much,” reported Weber, who currently has 40 employees and a branch in Salzburg.

He would like to unite his locations in the community in Schwaig.
