cashier of a drugstore
informed
the police.
An elderly man wanted to buy hundreds of euros worth of Google Play cards.
The woman saved the senior (83) from continued fraud, as the police said.
Telephone fraud in Kempten: Stranger pretends to win the lottery senior
It turned out that a
stranger had
contacted the 83-year-old by phone and promised him a lottery * win of 300,000 euros.
However, the man had to pay a tax of 4,000 euros beforehand.
He should settle this in the form of Google Play cards.
By the time the cashier spoke to him, the elderly gentleman had already bought cards worth 2500 euros.
He had already given the codes of two cards worth a total of 1000 euros to the unknown perpetrator over the phone.
"If the employee of the drugstore had not reacted so carefully and asked the elderly gentleman about the large number of cards and their high amounts, he would have
suffered
even greater
damage
," said the police.

The police advise:

• Make your family members aware of the issue.
• Never
spend money to
claim a supposed profit or pay any fees.
• Do not make any promises on the phone.
• Never give out personal information: no phone numbers and addresses, bank account details, bank codes, credit card numbers or the like.
• Ask the caller for the name, address and telephone number of those responsible, what type of competition it is and what exactly you have won.
